This painting is in good condition and of exceptional quality. Signed lower right.

A note: slight wear of time on the frame, see photos.

* Fernand Legout-Gérard (1856-1924):

he broke in 1889 with the Ministry of the Navy which employed him to devote himself to painting. He appears at the National Society and at the Salon from 1889 to 1894 with canvases from Brittany, landscapes, scenes from the life of fishermen and sailors, to which one cannot refuse impressive nocturnal effects of mastery, and shimmering colors in his pastels. Legout-Gérard has participated in numerous international exhibitions. He is now one of the most famous painters of the "Concarneau group". (extract from the Dictionary of the Little Masters of Painting by G. Schurr & P.Cabanne)
