Exceptional and rare oil on canvas oval representing the portrait of a woman of the French aristocracy, reading the Journal de Paris of 19 March 1790, in a stuccoed golden era of late eighteenth century.
This painting is in good condition and frame. It is not signed but is dated on the newspaper. It is endorsed on the back "of the Bretonnière Charlotte Bazin, wife of Louis Fauconnier Chilote (?), Born in 1755, died in Paris in 1818."
