Oil on canvas depicting a marine landscape with boats moored in port, very certainemennt of Northern France and Normandy, with characters walking alongside, signed Berthon *, of XIXth century.
This table is in very good condition. It was restored. It is signed lower right.
A note: traces of restorations to the back.
official painter of the Navy (1904). Student of Fine Arts in Lyon in 1875-1877, then a student of Pils and José Frappa in Paris. Began at the Paris Salon in 1880. He exhibited for 12 years to Society of French Artists, and then passed to the National Society of Fine Arts. (Bénézit extract)
