Octagonal porcelain dish from the East India Company, decorated with the coat of arms of the English Hall family *, border adorned with a polychrome frieze and gilded with bunches of fruits and bamboo leaves, Qianlong period 18th century.
This dish is in its own juice. A note: cracks, breakage and restoration, some wear on the decorations and enamelling defects, see photos.
* This coat of arms was worn by the Hall family, from Grantham to Lincoln, and Sussex, particularly by Jospeh Hall who was Bishop of Norwich and then George Hall, Bishop of Chester. This service appears to have been commissioned for Richard Hall of Hatton Gardens in London, who was director of the East India Company and died in November 1786.
