Large covered ewer, Persian influence, in porcelain from the Compagnie des Indes (Famille Rose), narrowed neck with bulge, "s" spout and handle in the opposite ear, pear-shaped body, mounted on a widened foot. Polychrome decorations on a white background representing lotus flowers, vegetal foliage and floral friezes. On each side of the belly a child playing among lotuses on a black background.
Braces on the foot and peonies on the lid. Executed for the Middle East market. Origin China, Jiangxi province, Jingdezhen. Qianlong period (1736-1795) 18th century.
An identical piece (same size, same decorations) is kept at the Guimet Museum in the famous Grandidier* collection.
