Dinnerware set consisting of 17 plates and 8 soup plates, made of Limoges porcelain by W. Guérin & Cie *, with a polylobée shape, decorated with coats of arms on the top with a crest of alliance (Gaborit Family of the Brush on the left) wearing a crown and the motto Amator Urbis, edging enhanced with a gilding net, vintage early twentieth century.
These plates are in good condition. Signed below.
A note: slight scratches in the bottom plates (surout for two dinner plates, see last photo), tiny wear on the gilding, see photos.
Porcelain factory founded in 1872 in Limoges, when Guillaume, said William, Guérin-Lésé (Mas-de-L'Age 1838-1912) takes over from Lebon & Cie, 54, Faubourg Montjovis. In 1877, he bought the Leopold Dubois factory, rue du Petit-Tour. In 1903, his two sons William and André were associated with him (William Guérin and Co.). In 1911, absorption of the house Pouyat, and formation of the company Guérin et Cie (Former Ets J. Pouyat, W. Guérin & Cie). In 1920, the company was dissolved and the shares sold to Bawo & Dotter Ltd. of Montreal (1921: Guerin Pouyat Elite Ltd). In 1932, closure of the factory. (See site Musée d'Orsay)
