Earthenware terrine from Lille with a rich decor in Bérain * with mythological characters surrounded by animals (dolphins, dogs ...) as well as fauns, harlequins and vestals, all in a rich decoration of plant arabesques, from the period late 18th century.
This terrine is in good condition.
A note: some micro-chips and chips on the edges, chips and burrs inside the cover, wear of time, look at the photos.
* The decor "à la Bérain" is inspired by the drawings of Jean Bérain, ornamentalist of Louis XIV. Around a central subject, generally a mythological character, is articulated a network of perfectly symmetrical arabesques, enriched with architectural elements, caryatids, busts and fantastic animals. Most often, this decoration is in blue monochrome.
