Set of three Italian majolica plates from the Cantagalli* factory (Florence - Tuscany) representing cherubs in rich landscapes with towns at the edge of bodies of water: one putto carrying a torch, the other seated holding a globe , the last making a bird attached to a string fly, in the style of Urbino majolica, from the 19th century.

These plates are in good condition and are of very good quality. Signed on the bottom.

Note: tiny chip on the edge of a plate (see red arrow), slight enamelling defects and wear over time, see photos.

* The Cantagalli factory, which existed since the end of the 16th century, was managed by Giuseppe Cantagalli during the 19th century, until his death in 1878. It then passed to his two sons, Ulisse and Romeo. The name of the factory was Figli di Giuseppe Cantagalli, it was quickly recognized for its historicizing style and exhibited at the Italian Exhibition in London in 1888. Its productions reproduced the style of Renaissance ceramics, as well as its direct copies of known majolica Italian, French and English collections were famous and appreciated for their high quality.
The Cantagalli brand was a “crowing rooster” – a visual translation of the family name.
