Rare large decorative earthenware dish from the Manufacture de Sèvres, signed A. Naudy for the decorator André Naudy*, with Africanist decoration of a beautiful naked woman seated in a colorful interior, from the 1930s Art Deco period, 20th century.
This dish is in very good condition and is of exceptional quality. Trace of old label (exhibition or collection) on the back.
The Africanist decor presented here is part of the period of the 1930s and more broadly of the interwar period when motifs and decors on the theme of Africa were very fashionable and popular; the high point of this craze was the holding of the Colonial Exhibition in Paris in 1931.
Please note: slight wear and tear, see photos.
* André Naudy was a decorator at the Manufacture de Sèvres in 1925 and from 1928 to 1934. He worked with the decorator Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann. Artist listed on ArtPrice.
