Rare candy box Gien earthenware, imitating a hat box, decorated with the Berain * flowers, knots and arabesques of XIXth century.
This box is in good condition. It is signed in the ass. A report: crack that weakens the box, égrenures on the edge of the lid see photos.
is based on drawings by Jean Berain, decorator of Louis XIV. Around a central subject, usually a mythological character, is built a network of perfectly symmetrical arabesques, enriched by architectural elements, caryatids, busts and fantastic creatures. Most often, this decoration is blue monochrome.
