Very pretty garden Nevers faience signed A.Montagnon *, decorated with floral and vegetal wreaths, period late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

This planter is in good condition. It is signed and numbered below.

In 1585 Augustin CONRADE, native Albissola Italy, set up his studio at Logis Saint-Gildas in Nevers the first workshop "white pottery dishes." Their style is so inspired by the famous Italian pottery to Biblical or mythological decorations they will evolve by creating wavy funds. The seventeenth century with many factories had to give a new genre that was especially marked by the blue shades and solid white (decor flange white and yellow on a deep blue enamel decoration inspired Persian). Then appear the many Chinese ceramics inspired decor in blue and manganese. In the eighteenth century, fashion is popular genre patronymic plates that prepare the way for revolutionary parts. In 1875, Antoine Montagnon acquires Manufacture du Bout du Monde. He raised the artistic production in the last survivor of the old factories. He participated in major exhibitions of 1878 and 1889, which earned him the title of "Restorer of Earthenware in Nevers." Since then, four generations have passed on their knowledge and their secrets, thus perpetuating the art of faience Nevers.
