* The Chelsea porcelain was manufactured from 1745 to 1784 in a factory built by the Flemish Nicholas Sprimont associated with the jeweler Charles Gouyn. The factory produced only bone china. This porcelain production was delayed compared to what was at the time in continental Europe but Chelsea was the first porcelain manufactory importance of the United Kingdom. The factory was bought in 1769 by William Duesbury, owner of the Derby factory. The production of this time, the neoclassical style, can not be distinguished from the production of Derby. It is named Chelsea-Derby porcelain.
