Watercolor engraving representing "The Province or Duchy of Brittany divided into two large parts which are Upper and Lower Brittany", by JB. Nolin * in Paris, dated 1695, vintage late seventeenth century.
This map is in good general condition. It has been put under glass recently (possibility of sending it without the frame on request, reduced delivery costs).

Engraver, publisher of prints, geographer; Ordinary geographer of the King (1701). - Son of the Parisian engraver Jean Nolin. Student of the ordinary engraver of King Nicolas de Poilly. In 1686, the father Vincenzo Coronelli passes with him market for his celestial globe and 28 maps of geography. In 1688, Jean-Baptiste I Nolin left the rue Saint-Jacques to specialize in geography; became geographer of the Duke of Orleans (1694), then geographer of the King (1701). In 1706 he lost a lawsuit for counterfeiting against the academician Guillaume Delisle. When he died in 1708, his widow continued to exploit his estate until around 1712. His son, Jean-Baptiste II, took over the funds from his parents when he retired or when his mother died. (See site bnf).
