Admitted to the small seminary of Sables d'Olonne and the college of Fontenay-le-Comte, one of his drawings arouses admiration which pushes his father to send him to college Stanislas of Paris. He later entered the studio of Justin Ouvrié, painter and especially lithographer specializing in landscapes of cities and monuments. Octave de Rochebrune discovers the technique of etching, he progresses quickly and refines his technique to the point of mastering the art of reproduction: it is formed by Léonce Petit.
