* The painter and engraver is an artist in his time representative of the Breton landscape, if any. Coming from a family Morbihan, he chose to settle in Vannes, where he spent his youth rather than seeking to Paris vanities of worldly success. Thousands of his drawings and watercolors, his thousand four hundred and thirty to four engravings and its six hundred paintings draw their beauty. Painter of sincerity and emotion, Jean Frélaut also excelled in printmaking and book illustration.
