was a French painter, representative of the rococo style. It is the only son of a painter of the Academy of St. Luke, Nicolas Boucher, from which it receives the first lessons. He perfected his learning to oil paint to François Lemoyne. He won the grand prize for painting in 1723 and stayed in Italy from 1727 to 1731. He obtained his return from Italy of company success and the favor of Madame de Pompadour. He became the fashionable painter. So it works for senior members of the court. Boucher does not seek to reproduce reality. It is a precious and sensual painter, using bright colors, serpentine lines and a wealth of scenic accessories. It now assigns illustrations (etchings and chisels) for erotic edition of The Maid of Orleans Voltaire, after drawings of Clement Peter Marillier.
