Panel forming an icon in carved wood decorated with stylized plant friezes, in the center a decorative element in embossed and gilded Cordoba leather representing two evangelists in medallions: Saint John with the eagle and Saint Matthew with an angel, origin Spain or perhaps decorative element of the Brazilian Baroque, from the late 17th-early 18th centuries.
This panel is in good general condition. Probably a decorative element or woodwork of a church (there must have been a pendant with the two other evangelists). Leather engraved 1425 in the middle.
Please note: age-related damage to the leather, some cracks and holes in the wood, wood probably repainted later, wear and tear, see photos.
