Set of altar canons* of the Gospel of Saint John, in bronze and gilded brass, decorated with a stylized plant motif, panels surmounted by a cross, with small colored glass cabochons, signed Leroux (probably designer and engraver L. Leroux, documented in Paris in the second half of the 19th century), from the Art Nouveau period around 1890-1900, late 19th century.
These altar cannons are in good general condition. They are under glass.
Please note: some dirt, scratches and wear on the bronze, take a good look at the photos.

* At the time of the Latin Mass with the back to the people, three tables written in Latin and sometimes decorated by hand were placed on the altar, one on the left contained the text of the prologue of the Gospel according to Saint John, which the priest said at the end of the Mass. In the center a table on three columns contained the Gloria, the Credo and the prayers of consecration. On the right the third contained the prayers of blessing of the water and the Lavabo. Often, these canons are extremely decorated, and sometimes even by hand. The use of the central canon sometimes remains for the "Mass of Paul VI" (or "ordinary form of the Roman rite") celebrated in Latin.
