Greek Orthodox icon (on panel) depicting the Virgin Mary holding the Infant Jesus on her right arm (called "right-handed"; like the miraculous icon of the Great Cave Monastery in Greece), image of the Mother of God Theotokos, from the 19th century.
This icon is in good general condition, in its original condition.
Please note: old worm holes and accidents on the wood, some stains and wear from time, see photos.
* Theotokos or Mother of God symbolized on icons by the monogram ΜΡ Υ — the first and last letters of each of the two words — is a title attributed to Mary (mother of Jesus). It appeared under the pen of Alexander of Alexandria in 325, the year of the first Council of Nicaea — which was followed by the definitive Council of Ephesus (431).
