is a Vincentian priest, martyred in China in the nineteenth century. It is in 1826 he was ordained priest. It is then sent to Saint-Flour as a professor of theology. Its success is such that the bishop claims as director of the seminary. He was first appointed seminary professor, and in 1831 director of the minor seminary, novitiate of the Vincentians in Paris. However, he always kept in mind the desire to go to China to convert the local population. He starts March 24, 1835 and arrived five months later in Macau. However, September 15, 1839 an armed group goes to the residence of the missionaries, who only have time to flee. Father Perboyre took refuge in the nearby forest, but, betrayed by one of his catechumens for a few taels, is found, captured and brought before the mandarin. It thus remains captive for almost a year. He was sentenced to death July 15, 1840 by a court in Hubei province to Ou-Tchang-Fou. The P.Perboyre is then linked to a gallows in a cross shape, and slowly executed by strangulation on September 11, 1840. One of catechists who bribed the guards, the martyr's body could be buried in consecrated ground beside St. Francis Regis Clet, martyred twenty years ago. Twenty years after his death, his remains were transferred to Paris, to the parent of the Vincentians in Paris.
