Alabaster sculpture representing the bust of a beautiful, elegant young woman, wearing a headdress in her curly hair and flowers on the corset of her dress, signed Cipriani*, on a gilded bronze base, with an old store label "Objets d'Art et Curiosités J. Petit 16 rue Tronchet" Paris, Art Nouveau period, late 19th-early 20th centuries.
This bust is in good general condition. It is signed on the back and labeled below the base (mounting of the base perhaps later (crack in the bottom of the alabaster at the junction with the bronze, probably made during assembly).
Please note: some accidents, chips and scratches on the alabaster, crack in the bottom of the base, wear and tear, see photos.
Florentine sculptor born in Brozzi in 1857. Active from 1880 to 1930. Father of the sculptor Ugo Cipriani (1887-1960). Artist highly rated on Artprice.
