White marble sculpture representing two Loves or Cupid fighting over a small stone (heart-shaped), signed Pigalle *, of XIXth century.
This sculpture is in good condition and is of high quality. It is signed on the base.
A note: a wing tip was broken and glued (see red arrows) breaks on the fingers of a cherub, small chip on the end of another wing (not visible), slight wear, tiny splinters and micro -rayures time, see photos.
(Ec en). It would have no relationship to the célèvre sculptor Jean-Baptiste Pigalle. Entered the school of Fine Arts in 1810, he exhibited at the 1814 Salon in 1850. He left busts, medallions and statues of famous people. (Excerpt Bronzes nineteenth, by P.Kjellberg)
