Polychrome earthenware statuette signed Henriot HB Quimper, numbered F902 dP, representing Saint Anne of the Bretons holding a marine anchor and the Virgin Mary as a child in front of her, by H. Porson*, 20th century.

This statuette is in good condition, signed and numbered (see photos). Not signed by the artist Porson, but it is his model.

*Henriette Porson (1874-1963)

is a French sculptor. Henriette Porson studied Fine Arts in Nantes and then in Paris at the Académie Julian. There she took painting classes at the Jean-Paul Laurens studio and sculpture classes at the Henri Royer studio. From 1906 to 1914 she participated in the Salon des Artistes Français, where she won multiple medals and later became a member. Her participations were rewarded with distinctions. In 1912, she founded a drawing, painting, and decorative arts course in Nantes. Around 1930, her collaboration with the Manufacture HB began. She participated in the 1931 Colonial Exhibition, presenting a work entitled Petit arabe assis (Little Seated Arab). Her contribution was rewarded with a silver medal. In 1947, she participated in the Sacred Art Exhibition in Nantes, again with the Manufacture HB. His Nantes studio, located at the corner of rue Boileau and rue du Chapeau-Rouge, was destroyed during the bombings of September 1943. The Château des Ducs de Bretagne - Musée d'Histoire de Nantes, has a collection consisting mainly of plaster casts, some of them painted, earthenware and charcoal drawings, donated by the artist's aunt.
