* Bronzes of Lorestan / Luristan:

The bronzes of Lorestan (or Luristan according to sources) are bronze sculptures from the beginning of the Iron Age that were found in large numbers in the province of Lorestan and Kermanshah, in western Iran. They include a large number of ornaments, tools, weapons, horse accessories and a smaller number of tableware, including situlae. Those discovered during documentary excavations generally come from burials. The ethnic origin of their manufacturers remains uncertain, although it may be Persians, probably related to the modern Lurs who gave their name to the region. Their period of production probably dates from 1000 BC to 650 BC. Objects tend to be flat and openwork, like metalworking in Scythian art. They represent the art of a nomadic or transhumant people, for whom all the goods must be light and easily transportable, privileging useful objects such as weapons, florets (perhaps for tent pegs), harnesses for horses, pins, cups and small decorative accessories.
