Solid gold coin of 50 Pesos known as "Centenario" from 1925, on the obverse an eagle perched on a cactus clutching a snake in its beak with the inscription "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS"; on the reverse the goddess of victory holding a laurel wreath and a broken chain in front of the 2 volcanoes Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl, 50 PESOS 37.5Gr. ORO PURO. “INDEPENDENCIA Y LIBERTAD” written on the edge.
This coin was minted for the first time in 1921 on the occasion of the centenary of Mexican Independence. Many numismatists therefore call it the 50 Pesos coin "Centenario".
