Pair of rectangular planters in red painted sheet metal, with gilded decoration of mythological scenes: a god (Poseidon) and his trident on a chariot pulled by two horses, on the other side the goddess Artemis in a chariot pulled by two does; on the other planter a maenad with cherubs with the thyrsus and a crown, resting on claw feet, from the 1st Empire period, early 19th century.
These planters are in good condition and are of exceptional quality. They both rest on a rectangular sheet metal base (painted black for one, faux-marble style for the other). One planter has decorations on both sides (the one on the left in the photos with Poseidon on one side and Artemis on the other); the other planter is only decorated on one side. Both are decorated on the sides with lion heads with handles. The feet and handles are in gilded metal. They have their interiors in zinc.
Please note: hole in the bottom of a zinc container (see red arrow, in the planter on the right), slight dents on the edge of a base, some accidents and missing paint, slight sussures on the gilding of the decorations, wear and tear, look carefully at the photos (see red arrows).
