Student in the late 1940s to the painting section of the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Jacques Ruelland is moving in 1951 to work on the land. With his girlfriend, Danielle, he was introduced to ceramics at Atelier des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Jacques Ruelland like working oxides and is inspired by the painting but also theater, dance or music. In 1970, the couple left Paris to settle in the south of France where they hold two workshops at the Mont Ventoux and the Angles.
