Fan decorated with a gouache (silk) representing women who garden in a bucolic landscape, scene embroidered gold sequins and surrounded by flower garlands and bunches of grapes, bone mount (beef) carved and openwork, decorated with 'silver inlay, Directoire period late eighteenth century.



This range is in good condition.

A note: some accidents and miss on the frame (see red arrows), a few tears on the paper (see red arrows), wear time see photos.

* From the beginning of the eighteenth century, France is the largest producer of spectrum in Europe. The decor of the first French fans is borrowed from illuminated manuscripts and tapestries. From 1770 the neoclassical influences the production: the branches are less ornate and the sheet is often decorated with medallions. The painted fans back to date under the Second Empire. The subjects are often imitations of the themes of the previous century: gallant and pastoral scenes. The old fans are sought by collectors. (Larousse)
