Carlo Bugatti * 's rare presentation saddle in walnut, with stylized parchment base, decorated with large geometric discs of repoussé metal (copper), Moorish inspiration typical of the works of the late nineteenth century artist (before 1900).

is an artist, cabinetmaker, decorator, designer and manufacturer of furniture, models of goldsmith, Italian musical instruments, with a predilection for Art Nouveau. He is the father of Deanice Bugatti, Ettore Bugatti (1881-1947) founder of Bugatti, and Rembrandt Bugatti (1884-1916) animal sculptor. He began his artistic career in Milan around 1880, after having studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brera in 1875, then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris. In 1880 he began a career as a cabinetmaker and art furniture designer in Milan, and obtained his first success in France in 1888, then gained artistic fame with a silver medal at the World's Fair. 1900 in Paris. He moved to Paris in 1904, then retired to Pierrefonds (Oise) in 1910. The Bugatti furniture Moorish (before 1900) are revealing of his early studies as an architect. After 1902, when he exhibited the fair of the game and the conversation at the International Exhibition of Decorative Art of Turin, Bugatti moved towards a more stripped work and soft curves that betray the influence of Art Nouveau .
