is the older brother of Napoleon Bonaparte. He was first a lawyer, then a diplomat and a soldier. Under the First Empire, he was appointed French prince with a predicate of imperial highness, was appointed grand-elector of the Empire and as such regent during the campaign of 1805. In 1806, he was appointed king of Naples and then in 1808, king of Spain and India. In 1814 and during the Hundred Days, he was appointed lieutenant-general and regent of the Empire.
