Rare embossed copper tabernacle decorated with colored glass cabochons, with two fluted columns on the front, representing Saint Germain* (SCS Germanus) as well as battle scenes (or crusades), kneeling soldiers, as well as two figures (most probably kings) on the sides, Orthodox or Byzantine inspiration, from the 19th century.
This tabernacle is in good condition and is of superb quality.
The Saint Germain represented can be both Saint Germain of Auxerre who was first governor in Gaul before becoming bishop, his time is that of the wars against the barbarians (Visigoths), he died in 448 in Ravenna in Byzantine Italy. It can also be Saint Germain I of Constantinople, patriarch of Constantinople (715-730), Saint of the Byzantine Church.
