Watercolor drawing of the painter Eugene Forel * representing a tower and the bridge of the castle of Gajac * "western part" under the light of autumn region of Bordeaux in Gironde, vintage late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

This drawing is in good condition. Unsigned.

Bordeaux painter, Associate of Girondins Artists (He was the President).
He participated in the Salon d'Automne. Eugene Forel worked during the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century.

It is called the Motte de Gajac, an ancient fortification. From XV, this castle belonged to the family Montaigne until the XVIII century. Afterwards, the castle belonged to M. de Basterot, who restored and adorned the towers with a coronet covered with flat tiles and topped with weathervanes bearing the arms of his house. At the Revolution, M. de Basterot left France and died in exile. The roofs of the towers are destroyed during the Second World War.
