A pupil of B. Constant, J. Lefebvre and JPLaurens, he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français since 1894, medalist in 1902 and 1904, and won the Rosa Bonheur Prize in 1913; non-competitive member. Rötig is mainly known as an animal painter. Several of his works can be found in the museums of Amiens de Cambrai and Le Havre. (Bénézit extract)
