Exceptional and rare watercolor or gouache signed H.Barnoin * representing a market scene in Quimper in Brittany, with many walking and talking characters from cattle and stalls on the market square in front of the church, dated 1921, Breton school, vintage twentieth century.

This table is in good condition. It is signed upper right, as well as back.

A note: some tasks and jaunissures on the table (especially visible in the sky), some accidents and wear on the frame, see photos.

* Henri Alphonse Barnoin (1822-1935):

Student of Luc-Oliver Merson, it holds especially Emile Dameron, his second master, his taste as the trivial landscapes that he animates of peasant crowds in general: fishermen and boats, rocky coast and processions, that's all directory Brittany folflorique who feeds his work. He also exhibited at the Salon from 1909, marine and views of Paris in watercolor. A work that does not obviously not erring originality but in its serenity and well assured technique, is a faithful mirror of the fervor of the painter for the Breton everyday life. (See Dictionary of the Little Masters of Painting by G.Schurr and P.Cabanne)
