Gouache representing a small bird on a decoration of plant arabesques, entitled "Blue Jay Cayenne" and signed Lamotte, dated 1821, in a stuccoed gilded wooden frame decorated with palm leaves in the corners, period early nineteenth century.
This gouache is in good condition and frame. It is signed and dated lower. The artist Lamotte is referenced in the book "Explanation of works of painting, sculpture, engraving, lithography and architecture of living artists, exhibited at the Royal Museum of Arts August 25, 1824", dating from 1824.
And the work exhibited at the Royal Museum in 1824 is precisely the "Cayenne Jay Blue" (page 109 of the book) "Lamotte Bakers Street 13, near the king's garden."
