Watercolor in its black frame under glass, painted by Victor Dupont *, representing the foreground the result of fishing with some fish hung drying in the back overlooking the roofs with chimneys of houses and factories are based, perhaps a view of Boulogne, vintage twentieth century.

This watercolor is in good condition and frame. It is signed Victor Dupont bottom right. It comes from the family of the artist.

A note: some visible cracks on watercolor, accidents and missing lower right of watercolor, well look at photos.

Painter, watercolorist, engraver and ceramist French. Victor Smith was admitted to the Municipal School of Drawing Boulogne in 1889. In 1900, he married Fernande Jaspard and moved to Paris. Appreciated by Guillaume Apollinaire, the artist moved to the workshop of the Hive and exhibits in 1903 at the Salon des Independants. In 1904, he started at the Autumn Salon, and then continue in 1906, 1907, 1913, 1919 and 1926, and finally from 1935 to 1941. He joined the wild after the 1905 Autumn Salon At Montparnasse, he befriends Paul Deltombe (1878-1971), Maurice Boudot-Lamotte (1878-1958), Emile Schuffeneckers (1851-1934) and Maurice Denis. It mainly produces marine, portraits, interior scenes, especially the colorful landscapes, flamboyant colors and tawny hues. Its shimmering orange and green, very typical of his research on color, are appreciated by the critics and public. Mobilized in August 1914, badly wounded in September 1915, he received at the end of the conflict the War Cross and a citation. During this period between the two wars, the artist actively participates in the Salon d'Automne. Victor Smith is an associate of the Salon d'Automne in 1913, became commissioner of the 1920 Independent Fair in 1921, is the chairman of the independent French art from 1929 to 1932 Salon, and was appointed independent Fair vice president 1935-1940.
