Large console wall walnut carved representing a beautiful lion's head open mouth holding a wreath of flowers, framed by foliage patterns, XIXth century.
This console is in good condition and is very decorative.
A note: small accidents and lack of wood in the bottom, a piece of garland was glued, some cracks in places, wear of time including the plateau and its border, see photos (see red arrows).
* Called "consoles of appliques", the consoles are often placed against a woodwork, a trumeau, between two windows or two doors. Under Napoléon III, we see the reborn consoles with important plant ornaments. (extract from the Dicionnaire Larousse antiques and flea market).
