Original tobacco jar carved Black Forest * (Black Forest) representing a large bear standing holding on to a tree trunk and carrying his leg in a jar for honey, XIXth century.
This tobacco jar is in good condition and is of high quality. The bear's head is reversed, see photos.
A note: slot on the body of the bear and on the edge of the pot, normal wear.
* Items carved from the Black Forest are not from Germany but were manufactured in the region of Brienz, Switzerland. The tradition of woodworking is ancestral in this region, people perpetuate the practice of wood carved on the facades of houses, furniture and everyday objects. The great sculptors in particular the representation of wild animals in their natural environment. In the nineteenth, these naturalistic sculptures of the Black Forest have become very fashionable and popular.
