Very nice and rare wooden sculpture of a Roman soldier holding two severed heads in his hands, certainly Dacian, in the wars of the Emperor Trajan in Dacia, vintage late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries.
This sculpture is in good condition. The events which refers this statuette are illustrated reliefs of Trajan's Column in Rome.
